Exploring Venus: next generation missions beyond those currently planned

چکیده

As of mid-2023 at least ten missions are in development or being planned to explore Venus the next 2 decades. Most these emphasize atmospheric chemistry and surface/interior scientific objectives only a few directly address past present habitability as primary science goal. All employ previously flight-tested platforms—Orbiters general probes, yet none (as yet) plan utilize longer-lived platforms (e.g., balloons airships) landers. Thus several key questions about will necessarily remain unanswered after current wave which starting 2029 continuing throughout 2030s. This future-oriented perspective outlines major that next-generation should for better understanding planet system provide reliable comparative basis Venus-analogue exoplanets can be investigated by means remote observations such from James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). generation may require long lived either float “fly” different altitudes, longer surface stations, eventually samples atmosphere/cloud particles (aerosols) returned Earth laboratories. Although ideas aerial platforms, long-lived landers, return conceptualized ready upcoming international competed opportunities NASA, ESA, ISRO, JAXA), they await further investment technologies combination measurement capabilities flight-system performance make breakthroughs community expect, guided longstanding priorities.

Venus: the next Generation Ecr Ion Source

The construction of VENUS, an Electron Cyclotron Resonance ion source designed to operate at 28 GHz, is nearing completion. Tests with the superconducting magnet assembly produced axial magnetic field strengths of 4 T at injection and 3 T at extraction and a sextupole field of 2 T at the plasma wall. These fields are sufficient for optimum operation at 28 GHz. We expect a shift to higher charge...

Next-Generation Dengue Vaccines: Novel Strategies Currently Under Development

Dengue has become the most important arboviral infection worldwide with more than 30 million cases of dengue fever estimated to occur each year. The need for a dengue vaccine is great and several live attenuated dengue candidate vaccines are proceeding through clinical evaluation. The need to induce a balanced immune response against all four DENV serotypes with a single vaccine has been a chal...

Formation control for the next generation Earth-gravimetry missions

The formation control of a long-distance, drag-free, low-thrust, low-Earth orbit satellite is outlined, in view of future Earth-gravity monitoring missions employing long baseline interferometry (> 10 km) and lasting at least six years. To this purpose, a formation consisting of two drag-free satellites, orbiting at a fixed distance in a sun-synchronous orbit, has been proposed as a baseline. F...

Differential expression--the next generation and beyond.

RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) technologies have not only pushed the boundaries of science, but also pushed the computational and analytic capacities of many laboratories. With respect to mapping and quantifying transcriptomes, RNA-seq has certainly established itself as the approach of choice. However, as the complexities of experiments continue to grow, there is still no standard practice that allo...
